APIs MCP AI
AI-Ready API Gateway
Back to all demos
An API gateway designed for AI consumers — intention-shaped operations, rich descriptions, scoped permissions, and recovery-friendly errors.
This demo shows how to expose your services to AI agents safely. Instead of pointing a model at raw CRUD endpoints, an AI-ready gateway presents a clean, well-described surface designed for how models actually work.
What it demonstrates
- Intention-shaped operations —
find_available_slots,refund_order— mapped to business actions, not low-level CRUD. - Self-describing — every operation and parameter carries a plain-language description, so the model knows what to call and when.
- Guardrails built in — scoped permissions, idempotency keys, rate limits, and confirmation for destructive actions.
- Recovery-friendly errors — failures return actionable messages the model can use to correct itself and retry.
How it works
- Existing APIs sit behind the gateway unchanged.
- The gateway (optionally exposed via MCP) presents intention-shaped tools with rich metadata.
- Requests pass through authentication, scoping, and rate limiting before reaching the underlying services.
- Structured, predictable responses come back for the model to parse.
Why it matters
AI agents are a new kind of API consumer — they discover capabilities at runtime and can fail creatively. Designing for that consumer is what turns “the model sometimes calls the wrong endpoint” into reliable, safe automation.
This is core to our Building AI-ready APIs work and pairs naturally with the MCP Accelerator package.
